The Phantasy Star Online 2 Open Beta is arriving soon to Xbox and PC players ahead of its full release in April. PSO2 has been around for a long time in Japan and is finally arriving to western audiences in the NA version of the game.
Phantasy Star Online 2 Open Beta Release Date
The Phantasy Star Online 2 Open Beta release date is scheduled for next week on the 17th of March. A tweet on the official PSO2 twitter read:
The time is finally here! The #PSO2NA Open Beta Test starts next week, March 17th! Play one of Japan’s biggest online action RPGs, coming first on.
Who Can Access The Beta
There is some concern that since the PSO2 western release is NA that it will only be available to north american players. However, this is not the case, the devs of the game have confirmed that there will be no IP block on console regions.
This means the game is only available in the NA marketplace but can be played in any region. By switching your console location in the settings on your Xbox to USA it will unlock the game for you download and play in Europe or anywhere else.
Note in the closed beta the game was available Via the Xbox Insider Hub and not the Marketplace, the same might be true for the open beta. The full game will be in the marketplace.
What Are the Beta Features
The open beta will be the full game and all of your progress will carry over to the final release. It might sound strange to have the full game unlocked for a beta, but there is so much content in PSO2 that it doesn’t matter too much.
Since the beta is the full game, you can start your playhtrough proper on March 17th. Make sure to pick your character and build carefully before you start.
